Oh Dear is a monitoring service for developers, agencies and businesses that look after websites and web apps. It watches far more than whether a page answers: it crawls your site for broken links and mixed content, checks SSL certificates, DNS records and domain expiry, makes sure scheduled tasks actually ran, and tracks performance and Lighthouse scores. It then alerts you through the channels your team already uses. Oh Dear was started in 2018 by Freek Van der Herten, the Belgian developer behind the Spatie agency and its many popular Laravel and PHP open-source packages, and Mattias Geniar, a sysadmin with years of infrastructure and security experience. It is still run independently by its founders, and developers respect it for being careful about false alarms. An incident only opens when a second location, at a different provider and in a different city, confirms the site is down.
