1 / 5Crisp is a customer support suite built around a chat widget you drop onto your website or app. Messages from that widget, email, WhatsApp, Messenger, Instagram and several other channels land in one shared inbox, where your team answers them together. It suits small businesses, online shops and SaaS teams that want one tool for support, inbound sales and customer messaging instead of five separate ones. Crisp was started in 2015 in Nantes, France, by Baptiste Jamin and Valerian Saliou. They built it as a remote two-person team, gave the product away free for its first year, and have turned down venture capital ever since, so the company grows on its own revenue. That shows in the pricing: you pay per workspace with a set number of seats included, not per agent, which small teams tend to appreciate. Crisp says around 10,000 companies use it. More recently it has gone AI-first: an AI agent called Hugo can learn from your website, PDFs and help articles and answer routine questions, with humans reviewing and correcting its replies. Highlights: • Customisable chat widget for websites, with native SDKs for iOS, Android and React apps • Shared inbox that pulls in email, WhatsApp, Messenger, Instagram, SMS and more • No-code AI agent builder trained on your own website, documents and help articles • MagicReply writing tools that expand, rephrase or fix the grammar of an answer • Built-in knowledge base you can publish as a multilingual help centre • Support CRM with customer profiles, private notes and conversation history • Workflow automations, routing rules and support analytics on higher plans • Collision detection so two agents never answer the same customer at once There is a free-forever plan with the chat widget, shared inbox and mobile apps for two seats. Paid plans are billed per workspace: Mini is US$45 a month for four seats, Essentials US$95 for ten seats with the omnichannel inbox, AI chatbot and knowledge base, and Plus US$295 for twenty seats with ticketing and white labelling; extra seats are US$10 a month. Paid plans include AI credits, and there is a 14-day free trial. Crisp is proprietary software that runs in the browser, with apps for macOS, Windows, iOS and Android.
