1 / 5DoNotNotify is a notification firewall for Android. It is for anyone whose phone buzzes all day with promotions, social pings and app nagging, but who still needs the alerts that matter, such as one-time passwords, delivery updates or messages from real people. Instead of muting whole apps in system settings, you write rules that decide which notifications get through, which are blocked and which are bundled together. What makes it stand out is its privacy stance. Notifications often contain sensitive codes and personal messages, so DoNotNotify processes everything on the device: the app requests no network permission, has no ads, no accounts and no analytics. It is the work of independent developer Anuj Jain, and in 2025 he open sourced the full code on GitHub under the MIT license so that anyone can verify those claims. It is distributed on both Google Play and F-Droid, and the project is under active development with frequent releases. Highlights: • Rules by app name, by message text or by regular expression • Denylist, allowlist and stack rules, which collapse chatty apps into one expandable group • Time-based rules that are active only during the windows you choose • More than 40 prebuilt rules for common apps, added automatically when you install them • Notification history that shows everything received, including dismissed and blocked alerts • Blocked history showing which rule caught each notification • Import and export of rules as JSON for backup DoNotNotify is free, with no ads or in-app purchases, and open source under the MIT license. It runs on Android 7.0 or later and needs notification access permission to work.
